![]() ![]() A unique attraction in the park is the Rocky Brook Rocket, a vintage train. Rocky Brook Creek meanders through the middle of it. Located across the street from the Opelika Recreation Center on Denson Drive, Opelika’s Municipal Park is a great picnic destination. It has walking trails, a great playground, and a splash pad. Located adjacent to Moon Lake, Idle Hour Park is the primary recreation area in Phenix City. One set is specially designed for smaller children. In 1925 the lake was drained and Columbus High was built near the site of the ball fields. The park has three nice playsets. Boating was a popular past time at the park. Once there was a lake with islands and arched bridges connecting them. This has been a favorite Columbus park since 1888. The rocks are wide and flat (hence the name), and the water flow is shallow enough for wading. Access to a walking trail, playgrounds, small lake, picnic areas, grills, and covered eating areas. Flat Rock Park is known for its beautiful rocky stream, especially near the entrance. Flat Rock Parkįlat Rock Park is a hidden gem. It has nice restrooms nearby, great play equipment, plenty of seating, and lots of parking. One of our fans recommended this new playground located next to the Rails To Trails parking area. Don’t forget to bring a loaf of bread to feed the ducks! Fall Line Trace Park A walking trail follows the perimeter of the lake. Cooper Creek ParkĬooper Creek Park provides guests with access to a walking and fitness trail, playgrounds, picnic areas and more. The interactive playground is located adjacent to the RiverWalk Splash Pad and across from the Columbus Whitewater Express store on Bay Avenue. Children ages 12 and under will find different play areas and even musical instruments for them to play on. The FreeNotes Harmony Playground features climbing structures, slides, a see saw for four and oversized outdoor instruments. The ground cover is actually recycled rubber mulch - the safest play surface on the market.
